New Location for Smith’s Grocery in Cedar City
Zach Hatch and Jay Blacker represented Kroger in the acquisition of a new location for Smith’s Grocery in Cedar City, Utah. Listing agents Curren Christensen of NAI Excel and Kayla Crosby of Superior Real Estate represented the seller’s in this transaction. Smith’s has been a valued part of the Cedar City community for decades, and this new shopping center will further enhance the retail experience for local residents. The new location will enable Smith’s to better serve its customers with an expanded range of offerings while continuing to deliver on its long-standing commitment to exceptional customer service. In addition, the development will create new opportunities for future retail growth in Cedar City as additional pads become available.
Cedar City continues to experience significant growth, bringing new concepts that are reshaping the local retail landscape. On North Main Street near Love’s, Johnny Mac’s recently opened, and Starbucks is set to open soon. We are excited about the continued development at both the north and south interchanges and look forward to the positive impact these additions will have on the community.
Zach Hatch
Zach Hatch has been with NAI Excel for over 5 years. His real estate practice includes investment properties, development land, raw land, retail leasing representing both landlords and tenants, office sales and leasing, and special-use assets with or without the accompanying business. Zach’s professional experience is built on a foundation of deal structuring and negotiation, evaluations, and asset pricing. He has worked on projects including development land, office expansion, retail leasing, grocery stores, motel/hotel properties, retail investment properties, Tenant representation, landlord representation, professional service firms, and start-up entrepreneurial ventures.
From 2016-2018 Zach went back to school to achieve his dream of earning his Masters in Business Administration Degree from the University of Utah. With an emphasis in Real Estate and Entrepreneurship, Zach was able to participate in many of the courses incorporated in the MRED program which gave him the knowledge and tools needed to succeed as a Commercial Real Estate Broker.
Jay Blacker
Jay Blacker joined NAI Excel as a Retail Specialist in 2019. He has experience in Retail, Office, Industrial, Land and Residential brokerage.
Jay has been active in commercial real estate for over 20 years as an in-house representative for Owner/Developers in their existing and/or planned projects scattered across the United States.

Jay has built his career on expert in-depth market evaluations, demographic profiles, competitive analyses and site information essential to his client’s and prospect’s decision-making process.
