ST. GEORGE – Its population may not be growing like it did during the boom years of the mid-2000s, but St. George is still ranked as one of the fastest- growing places in the country.
According to 2011 population estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau, the St. George metropolitan area grew by 2.6 percent between 2010 and 2011 and is ranked 11th in the bureau’s list of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the nation. While St. George is no longer ranked second – like it was from 2000 to 2010 – its drop in ranking was considerably less than other areas.
